The 2009 Plane Pull fundraiser is being held Sunday, May 3, 2009, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., over the May 2-3 Delaware National Guard weekend drill, and held at the Delaware Air National Guard base in New Castle.

This is another chance for teams of Airmen and Soldiers, school students, firefighters, trade unions, corporations, small businesses and local ROTC units to band together to support the annual Plane Pull.

Funds raised benefit Special Olympics Delaware. Members of the Delaware National Guard have supported this event for a number of years.

Planners want all Airmen, their families and friends in the community to be a part of the ultimate man-versus-machine challenge again, or try it for the first time.

Plan to enter a team in the 2009 Plane Pull! Enjoy the challenge of pulling a 100,000 pound C-130 Hercules transport aircraft in a timed event, with teams grouped into various categories. Junior high school kids to people over the age of 50 have done their part to pull the mighty Hercules.

Senior Master Sgt. Gordon Riggs, traffic manager in the Delaware Air National Guard's 166th Logistics Readiness Squadron, is heading up the DANG effort this year. Sgt. Riggs said, "Folks, we are looking for volunteers again for our annual airplane pull. I know in the past you have participated in this annual event, hopefully you will join us again. Anyone that wants to volunteer please let myself or Master Sgt. Scott Quinn know. New faces are certainly welcome. Thanks again for your support."

More details, plus forms (plane pull fact sheet, registration packet, plane pull fun facts, and tips and incentives), are available on the Special Olympics Delaware web site: http://www.sode.org/support/plane-pull.asp
