WILMINGTON, Del. -- The 166th Airlift Wing hosted a Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program Event at the Hilton Double Tree in Wilmington, Del., Aug. 18, 2018.
The Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program, a federally-mandated program, encompasses a cooperative network of military services, veteran service organizations, federal and state governmental departments and other agencies which provide information, resources, referral and proactive outreach throughout the deployment cycle.
Attendees were able to participate in a variety of breakout sessions offered by the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program team and other service providers on various topics affecting families. Health, finances, stress, suicide, substance abuse, marriage, legal and financial practices are just a handful of issues that the program tackles.
“The goal of the program is to provide service members and families access and referrals to the various outreach programs available to them in the event of a deployment,” said Jovy Juanillo, 166th Airlift Wing Yellow Ribbon Support Specialist. “These events, in addition to other family programs, are just one example of the vast support system that families can utilize to cope with the rigors of deployments or mobilizations.”
In addition to providing pertinent information and resources, the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program Event also helps families sustain during deployment and reintegrate service members with their families, communities and employers before and after deployment.
These events are typically held twice a year and average anywhere from 260 to 300 total attendees per event.
“I often get questions from family members asking for assistance because their service member is deployed and they do not know who to contact or get information from regarding healthcare, money, self-improvement and other related issues – information that is readily available at these Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program Events,” said Juanillo. “For anyone who may have questions about the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program, please reach out because we are here to help!”
