Major Gen. Francis Vavala, The Adjutant General, has designated Wednesday, June 19, 2013 as the Delaware National Guard's Fourth Annual Unity Day.

This event is an opportunity for the full-time members of the Delaware National Guard to experience and be exposed to the various ethnicities and cultures of different groups within our community. The keynote speaker will be retired U.S. Army Reserve Chief Warrant Officer 2 Elizabeth McCormick. She served as a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter pilot where she flew missions such as air assault/repelling, command and control, VIP and military intelligence. She is also an advocate for women veterans and disabled veterans and serves on the board of directors for Grace After Fire, a non-profit public charity peer support system designed specifically for women veterans.

The event will be held at the New Castle Air National Guard Base, Del., from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Alcoholic beverages will not be served. The uniform will be the duty uniform of the day.

This is an event for full-time members of the Delaware National Guard and their families, and is therefore not open to the general public.
