In-residence fellows programs plus intermediate and senior service school applications are now being considered for appointed officers -- majors through colonels -- currently in the 166th Airlift Wing of the Delaware Air National Guard.

The Air National Guard Airman Learning Branch (NGB/A1DL) is now accepting applications for resident developmental education (DE) schools and fellowship assignments, including Intermediate Developmental Education (IDE), Senior Developmental Education (SDE), and Advanced Studies Group (ASG) opportunities for academic year (AY) 2012-2013.

These are 10-month long schools and fellowships, with an application suspense date of Oct. 12, 2011.

Interested officers will first need to go through leadership channels and consult their group commander for further guidance. Also, see the attached documents posted on this website (links below).

On Aug. 1, Director of the ANG Lt. Gen. Harry "Bud" Wyatt contacted all Adjutant Generals to announce these officer developmental education opportunities, "As you know, developmental education opportunities are extremely valuable in developing the Air National Guard's future leaders," wrote Gen. Wyatt, who explained the severely limited number of school and fellowship quotas, the highly competitive selection process, and the necessity of senior leadership involvement.

According to the ANG, Professional Military Education is a vital element in developing and preparing ANG members for leadership roles. Adjutants General and commanders are expected to nominate only those officers who demonstrate leadership skills, the potential to serve in senior leader positions, and those who will strategically benefit future missions of the Air National Guard.

This is a highly competitive process -- application package content and quality is the key to selection. The applicant is ultimately responsible for compiling the package and ensuring its completeness. Communication and coordination through your Force Support Squadron Force Development Supervisors (FSS/FSD formerly known as BETMs) is essential as they serve as the base-level POC for officer PME program administration to NGB/A1DL.
