New Castle County Airforce Base, Delaware -- Airman 1st Class Layee Sanoe, a Command Support Staff Specialist with the 166th Airlift Wing, is the latest JEEP recruiting award recipient. As thank you for his recruiting efforts, he has been awarded the commander’s parking spot for the month of February.
What inspired you to join the National Guard, and how does it feel to be inspiring others to follow in your footsteps now?
Sanoe: “I’m an immigrant. I came to the United States as a refugee. I felt like this country adopted me and I felt like if there is anything I can do to pay it back, it’s to serve.”
What does this special parking space symbolize for you and how do you hope it inspires your fellow guard members?
Sanoe: “For me, the parking spot goes beyond just a spot. If you can touch anybody’s life and make a change in either your community or within the guard, that’s all I’m about; just inspiring anyone to serve.”
What advice would you give to someone considering joining the Air National Guard?
Sanoe: “If this is something you want to do, just go for it. Don’t just sit out there and go on the internet to research; just come in here. Ask people who have been here, done that, so they can share their experience. You will be surprised.

The Joint Enlistment Enhancement Program (JEEP) is a Delaware State program to incentivize non-recruiters to become a recruiting assistant by supporting the enlistment or accession of Soldiers or Airmen into the Delaware National Guard.
As of February 4th, 2024: Recruiting assistants will receive $1,000 for any non-prior service, prior service, or officer accession. The lead must not have contacted a recruiter prior or be in the recruiting system database.
