Five ship aircraft formation over states of Delaware, Virginia, Maryland and New Jersey
A five-ship formation of Delaware Air National Guard C-130 transport aircraft crossing four states (Del., Md., Va., and N.J.) just offshore from Bethany Beach, Del. on Saturday June 7, 2008, around 1:00 p.m. The nearly 700-mile mission took the aircraft from the New Castle Air National Guard Base, Del. and across the Chesapeake Bay to Richmond, Va., then northeast over Maryland to Sussex County, Del., then southeast to Ocean City Airport, Md. The formation then turned north and flew up the coast past Ocean City, Md. and Delaware beaches to Cape Henlopen, Del., then crossed the Delaware Bay to conduct a heavy equipment airdrop over Coyle Field in the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey. Mark Baxa, each from the 181st Airlift Squadron, 136th Airlift Wing, Texas Air National Guard, talk near the flightline at the New Castle ANG base on May 9, 2013, upon their return home aboard a C-130 aircraft from the 136th AW. The Airmen travelled home with additional Airmen from their Texas unit and half-a-dozen Airmen from the Delaware ANG. They completed deployments that began in late February to the Southwest Asia combat zone where they served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. A dozen more Delaware ANG Airmen are scheduled to return home in a Delaware C-130 Monday, May 13. The returning Delaware Air Guard Airmen are from two groups in the 166th Airlift Wing; the 166th Operations Group, which includes all C-130 aircrew and other Airmen with various critical job functions, and the 166th Maintenance Group, which includes crews who maintain and repair the aircraft. The Airmen are part of a contingent of about 100 unit Airmen flying and fixing C-130 aircraft for up to 120 days under U.S. Air Force Central Command, and can operate anywhere in USCENTCOM's 20-nation area of responsibility. Airmen home from Southwest Asia after providing medical care in the air for America's wounded troops
Five Airmen from the 142nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron gather upon their return to the New Castle Air National Guard Base on May 8, 2013. The flight nurses and medical technicians from the Delaware Air Guard 166th Airlift Wing completed a four-month overseas mission that began over the holidays. They left Delaware in late December and started operations in Southwest Asia on New Year’s Day in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, providing medical care in the air to America’s wounded combat troops on their way home for further treatment. Mission commander comes home to the First State after leading Delaware Air Guard mission in Southwest Asia
Air Force Lt. Col. Christopher Kilcullen, mission commander of the 142nd Airlift Squadron, 166th Airlift Wing, Delaware Air National Guard, near the flightline at the New Castle ANG Base, Del. on May 9, 2013 upon his return home with half-a-dozen fellow unit Airmen who served in the Southwest Asia combat zone in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. They came home aboard a C-130 aircraft from the 136th AW, Texas ANG, in view over his left shoulder. Airmen from both wings travelled home after completing deployments that began in late February. A dozen more Delaware ANG Airmen are scheduled to return home in a Delaware C-130 Monday, May 13.
