Delaware Air Guard gets new Commander

Col. David Walker takes over as Assistant Adjutant General, Air               

On Saturday, February 11th, the Delaware National Guard will host a change of command ceremony for its Assistant Adjutant General, Air. The ceremony will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the Army Aviation Support Facility, 33 Corporate Circle, New Castle, Del. The ceremony is open to the public and the media are invited to attend.

Colonel Dave Walker is the new Assistant Adjutant General, and takes over for Brig. Gen. Carol Timmons. The job of the Assistant Adjutant General is to ensure the Delaware Air National Guard is fully trained, equipped, and ready to support federal mobilizations and state emergency operations. Walker will also develop plans, programs, and policies in support of the Delaware C-130 Airlift Wing and maintain liaisons with the active Air Force and the National Guard Bureau.

Colonel Walker is a 1989 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served aboard a nuclear-powered attack submarine, and later as a master instructor at the Naval Academy. Walker commissioned into the Air National Guard after seven years Naval service. Since, he has held various positions with the National Security Agency, U.S. Cyber Command, and commanded the 166th Network Squadron. He currently serves as the Vice Commander, 166th Airlift Wing, Delaware National Guard.

Brig. Gen. Carol Timmons assumed the duties of Assistant Adjutant General, Air in January 2012. She began her career in 1977 as a law enforcement apprentice with the Delaware National Guard's 166th Security Forces Squadron and has served as a pilot in the Army National Guard, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard. General Timmons is a veteran of numerous overseas operations and is a member of the Delaware Women's and Aviation Halls of Fame. She will assume the duties as the Adjutant General, Delaware National Guard on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
