The Delaware Aviation Advisory Council will hold the first Delaware Aviation Career Day Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at New Castle Airport with a theme of "Let your dreams take flight," for Delaware and South Jersey High School educators and students in grades 10 through 12 as well as college age students interested in learning more about professional careers in civilian and military aviation and aviation technology.

The event occurs on the Delaware Air National Guard side of the airport, with participation by uniformed military ground and air crews and aircraft of the Delaware Air and Army National Guard.

"We are excited to be a partner for the first Delaware Aviation Career Day here at the New Castle Airport. We are happy to welcome several dozen local students as they engage with Airmen in our work centers, see our various maintenance and support shops, and go out on the ramp to get a detailed look inside our C-130 Hercules transport aircraft," said Col. Jonathan Groff, wing commander, 166th Airlift Wing. "The students will also get a chance to talk with civilian aircrew and get a first-hand look at several civilian aircraft."

The students will be divided into three groups (about 25 students plus 25 parents per group) for a guided tour given by SMEs. The students will eat lunch in the break room in the new Delaware Air Guard maintenance hangar. Over a dozen partners will be on hand, including private firms and educational institutions, local, state and federal agencies, plus the Delaware Air and Army National Guard.

The event is free of charge; registration open. Pre-registration required at http://www.delawareconferences.com, with directions and agenda. Call (302) 571-6474 for more information about registration.
