Five Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 2010 selected for the Delaware Air National Guard

Five Airmen have been selected by the Delaware Air National Guard out of their 1,100 members as their Outstanding Airmen of the Year for FY 2010 in five categories.

On Saturday, Feb. 5, these five Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 2010, plus 12 Airmen of the Quarter for the previous four quarters, and other special award winners from 2010 will be honored at the Delaware Air National Guard's Enlisted Recognition Banquet to be held at The Deerfield Golf and Tennis Club in Newark, Del. Also listed below are the 12 Airmen of the Quarter FY2010 award winners. Another dozen Airmen will be recognized for other achievements such as earning a Community College of the Air Force associate degree, for being selected for S.B.I. Duncan Leadership Award, and for other individual and team honors.

Requests for photography and interviews can be arranged if news media cannot attend the Feb. 5 banquet.

Delaware Air National Guard Command Chief Master Sgt. Holly Morris, who is in charge of the annual Outstanding Airmen of the Year Program, said, "We are extremely proud to recognize these five Outstanding Airmen of the Year. Through their significant career and community achievements they represent the core values of the Air Force of 'Integrity first, Service before self, and Excellence in all we do,' and each brings high credit to the enlisted force of the Delaware Air National Guard."

The award winners in the three categories of Airman of the Year, Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, and Senior Noncommissioned Officer of the Year were selected from four quarterly award winners in each category.

The award winners in the two categories of First Sergeant of the Year and Honor Guard Member of the Year were selected from direct nominations submitted to the selection committee.

All five award winners will next represent Delaware in the national level Air National Guard competitive selection process to be held later this year to include all 54 ANG units, representing all 50 states, three territories and the District of Columbia. One award winner in each category will then represent the ANG at the Air Force-wide competition where 12 award winners will be named from all Air Force commands, separate operating agencies, direct reporting units, the Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard.
