A group of two dozen local youth ranging from age six to 10, along with several of their teachers from the Children of America Educational Childcare and Academy on Little Falls Drive in Wilmington, Del., will tour the New Castle Airport and the co-located New Castle Air National Guard Base Thursday August 15.

The Delaware Air Guard hosts short tours from many youth organizations, both military- and non-military related, throughout the year.

The itinerary:

10:00 a.m. - youth arrive on the civilian side of New Castle Airport, tour facility
11:05 a.m. - arrive at Del. Air Guard firehouse on military side of airport, tour facility, interact with firefighters
11:55 a.m. - arrive at Del. Air Guard Base Operations, interact with aircrew, walk through a static C-130 aircraft
1:00 p.m. - depart air base

166th Operations Group Commander Col. Rob Culcasi said, "We are always delighted to host young people so they can see our base and C-130 aircraft up close. It will be an enjoyable and educational time for these kids and our Airmen. We welcome the opportunity to meet these curious children who ask such interesting questions."

For many of the children it will be their first time seeing a military aircraft up close, and also the first time they interact with a collection of uniformed military members.
