Lieutenant Colonel Tenny H. Wheatley Jr., pilot, 166th Combat Support Group, Greater Wilmington Airport, New Castle, Delaware, Delaware Air National Guard. In January 2011 the Department of the Air Force approved the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lt. Col. Wheatley for his actions taken while a captain. The award stated that he distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as co-pilot of a C-97 transport aircraft during an in-flight emergency over North Atlantic waters on a transatlantic flight on December 5, 1970.
