Delaware Air Guard flyover of Delaware Memorial Bridge Plaza Sunday morning, Nov. 11, Veterans Day 2012

The Delaware Air National Guard will conduct a two-ship aircraft flyover of the Delaware Memorial Bridge Plaza this Sunday morning, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, at approximately 10:20 a.m., moments before the formal spoken ceremony begins on the ground just before 11:00 a.m.

Two C-130 Hercules transport aircraft of the 166th Airlift Wing will take off from the New Castle Air National Guard Base sometime before 10:00 a.m. The flight will be coordinated by the aircraft aircrew, Airmen on the ground at the Delaware Memorial Bridge and at base operations at the New Castle ANG Base, said Col. Mike Feeley, commander, 166th Airlift Wing.

"Hundreds of members of the Delaware National Guard are preparing for overseas combat zone deployments in the year ahead, starting in late 2012. Plus, over 500 troops recently completed Hurricane Sandy relief missions to assist Delaware citizens, and 120 Delaware Army National Guard Soldiers are in N.Y.C. at this moment helping our neighbors to the North recover from the hurricane," said Maj. Gen. Frank Vavala, Adjutant General, Delaware National Guard. "We are grateful for their service and for the service of all veterans, and for all those who are currently serving in uniform, and we are happy to conduct this flyover in coordination with the Delaware Veterans Commission."

A number of Delaware National Guard Airmen and Soldiers will be at the ceremony in fellowship with the community.
