Six picked as Airmen of the Quarter winners for first and second quarters of 2007 by Delaware Air National Guard in New Castle

Five of the six award winners reside in Delaware, and one is a N.J. resident. Four Airmen reside in New Castle County, Del., in Middletown (1), Newark (2) and New Castle (1). One resides in Magnolia, Del. (Kent County, south of Dover). The single N.J. resident is from Pennsville, N.J.

NEW CASTLE - The Delaware Air National Guard is proud to announce the names of six Airmen who have been selected as Airmen of the Quarter for the first and second quarters of fiscal year 2007. The award winners are picked from flight and squadron nominations from the 800-person enlisted force, which makes up 80 percent of the 1,000 member organization. At the end of the year a selection board will pick an annual award winner in each category from the Airmen of the Quarter selections to become their Airmen of the Year award winner.

The three award categories: Airman (E-1 through E-4 enlisted grades, or airman basic through senior airman ranks), NCO (E-5 and E-6 enlisted grades, or staff sergeant through technical sergeant ranks), and Senior NCO (E-7 through E-9 enlisted grades, or master sergeant through chief master sergeant ranks).

The following three individuals have been selected as the Airman, NCO, and Senior NCO for the First Quarter of 2007 (period covering Oct. 1. 2006 to Dec. 31, 2006):

Airman of the Quarter: Senior Airman Regina Mason, a traffic management apprentice in the 166th Logistics Readiness Squadron, and a resident of Middletown, DE 19709.

NCO of the Quarter: Staff Sgt Bradley Childs, a fuels apprentice in the 166th Logistics Readiness Squadron, and a resident of Pennsville, NJ 08070.

Senior NCO of the Quarter: Senior Master Sgt. Gordon Riggs, NCOIC of traffic management in the 166th Logistics Readiness Squadron, and a resident of Newark, DE 19702.

The next three individuals have been selected as the Airman, NCO, and Senior NCO for the Second Quarter of 2007 (period covering Jan. 1 to March 31, 2007):

Airman of the Quarter: Senior Airman Christian Leamy, an aircrew life support specialist in the 142nd Airlift Squadron, and a resident of Newark, DE 19702.

NCO of the Quarter: Tech. Sgt. Carlos Zapata, an aircraft loadmaster in the 142nd Airlift Squadron, and a resident of Magnolia, DE 19962.

Senior NCO of the Quarter: Master Sgt. Jose Irizarry, a communications-navigation craftsman in the 166th Maintenance Squadron, and a resident of New Castle, De 19720.
